Car Insurance BMW (Car Insurance). What to do if your car smells like fart from the muffler?

What to do if your car smells like fart from the muffler? I had a 2004 BMW M3 Convertible and whenever I go on a hill it smelled like burned egg from the muffler or from the engine. So went to auto repair shop and they said "there's nothing they car do" so I no other choice then traded it. Then I got a 2011 BMW M3 Coupe, then a weeks ago my dad put Shell after the gas emptied he bp gas for car. Next day the car started to smell, so I don't know what to do. I know the obvious answer is the gas, but so many people put different gas every other day on the their car and it doesn't smell. So Please Help. Thank You.

...............BEANO..................? You answered your own question.....its the way your gas is being refined!....buy a different brand.

BMW . What oil do I put in my Renault Clio 8V 1.2 Reg 51 Plate?

What oil do I put in my Renault Clio 8V 1.2 Reg 51 Plate? Hi, I checked my oil dipstick and its below the min. Its about half a centimetre above the end of the dipstick. I want to put new oil in my car but cant remeber what oil I used last time. Is it ok to put new oil into the car without removing what little of the old oil is left or do I need to completely remove the old oil as I dont know what oil I used last time? Some websites say to use 10W40 semi synthetic but the halfords website when I type in my number plate recommends fully synthetic 0W40 or 5W40. Could someone clear this up for me! Also, Recently my car has been cutting out at low speeds. If i try to slow down it will cut out but the car still has power as my radio still works. Could this be because of the lack of oil in the car. Answers are appreciated. Thanks car insurance.

Should I buy a salvaged car that would be a project car? I finally found my dream car that's affordable on my budget. Its 1969 "Judge" Pontiac GTO and its going for $300. The only thing is that it had an interior fire and now it is a salvaged car. It would be a project car so I was wondering if it would be worth buying it salvaged or spending a lot more money buying a non salvaged Judge. car insurance.

BMW . How to Troubleshoot VW Brake Systems

Troubleshooting your VW brake system yourself will save you money, even if you take your vehicle to a professional for repairs. Symptoms of brake problems include pulling to one side, brake noise, roughness, brake pedal feeling soft, shimmying brakes and a parking brake that does not hold. By diagnosing your own brake system, you will have a better understanding of what a mechanic is does to your vehicle.
Difficulty:Moderately Easy
Instructions Brake Pedal Symptoms

Step by Step :
1
Brake pedal travel is indicative of how well the hydraulic system is applying pressure to the slave cylinders at the brakes. Too much pedal travel indicates there is too little brake fluid in the master cylinder, or the brakes need adjusting.
2
A spongy brake pedal indicates there is air in the hydraulic system, or the master cylinder bolts are loose. It may also indicate a defective master cylinder.
3
When the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor, without applying any brake pressure, either the hydraulic lines are damaged, or there is a leak in the master cylinder.
Uneven Braking or One-Side Pull

Step by Step :
1
If your brakes pull to one side, check your tire pressure. One or more low tires will significantly affect braking. Another tire issue that affects braking is mismatched tires, especially when front and back tires are different.
2
Brakes pulling to one side can also indicate the steering is out of alignment, or there is a kinked or restricted brake line. Uneven wear in the steering or suspension can make the brakes dive or jerk to one side when the brakes are applied.
3
Grease or oil on one brake pad will prevent that brake from gripping properly.
Other Brake Issues

Step by Step :
1
Noisy brakes are usually the result of pads worn to the metal. If your brakes squeal and don't hold evenly, have them repaired, immediately. If you catch the problem soon enough, you may be able to avoid a very expensive repair job. Noisy brakes may also result from stones or mud jammed between the pads.
2
If your parking brake does not hold, check the cable running from the brake handle to the rear brake. The parking brake assembly has an adjuster to take up slack when the cable has stretched or the pads have worn. If the cable is broken, rusted or jammed, it should be replaced or repaired.
3
Grabbing brakes may indicate a malfunctioning pressure regulator or proportioning valve. In rare cases, the brake pedal assembly can get jammed.
Tips & Warnings
Take care of your brakes, and they will take care of you!

According to Consumer Reports, all models of VW have above-average brake system reliability.

BMW . How to Troubleshoot Scooter Brakes

Checking your scooter brakes regularly helps prevent stopping problems later when riding your scooter; knowing how to identify the cause of a problem helps with repairs once an issue occurs. Most brake repairs on a scooter can be performed by the owner with a little bit of work and getting greasy, so no one should feel intimidated by a brake problem once it manifests. Follow these quick steps to troubleshoot a scooter brake problem you may experience.
Difficulty:Moderately Easy
Instructions Things You'll Need
Shop towel
Socket wrench and sockets
Circlip tool
Screwdrivers
New brake fluid
Brake bleeding kit
Crescent wrenchesDrum Brake Troubleshooting

Step by Step :
1
Examine the front and rear brake cables by activating them with the hand lever or foot pedal. Let the scooter roll while sitting on it then apply the brake. If the scooter does not stop right away, use a crescent wrench to adjust the cable tightness for the respective brake. Test the stopping again by rolling the scooter forward and applying the brakes.
2
Check the electrical system if the braking stops without any problems. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the headset and examine the front brake electrical switch. Replace the switch if the brake works, but the switch doesn't turn on the brake taillight. Bend down underneath the scooter and use a socket wrench or crescent wrench to open up the rear brake cable. Perform a similar examination of the rear brake switch.
3
Use a socket wrench to remove the wheels and wheel hubs to expose the brake shoes. Press the lever by hand normally activated by the brake cable on the other side of the wheel axle. Observe if the brake shoes move. Replace the brake shoes by removing the old ones with a flathead screwdriver and installing new ones. Secure them with a circlip tool and circlips included with the brakes. Re-install the hubs and wheels with the socket wrench.
Hydraulic Brake Troubleshooting

Step by Step :
1
Sit on the scooter and let it roll forward. Apply the hand brake to test the hydraulic system, usually installed on the front wheel of scooters. Note what the brakes feel like if the scooter does not stop right away, whether if feels spongy, resistance or no pressure at all.
2
Use a crescent wrench and release the bottom of the brake fluid line going to the brake caliper. Let the fluid drain into a plastic container. Avoid touching the fluid with bare skin. Open up the fluid reservoir either higher up on the fork or headset handlebar. Pour new fluid in and use the brake bleeding kit or pump the hand brake lever to draw the fluid until all air is gone in the hose and only fluid comes out, note that brake pressure will get hard. Re-attach the hose to the caliper.
3
Ride the scooter to observe if the front hydraulic brake applies, but does so with a wobbling feeling. Park the scooter in a work space and remove the wheel and hub with a socket wrench. Spin the brake rotor while sitting in front of it to observe if it is warped. Use a crescent wrench to remove the bolts holding the rotor onto the inner hub and replace it if it wobbles while spinning. Re-install the wheel and hub with the socket wrench after replacing the brake rotor.
Tips & Warnings
When the hand brake pumps and feels firm when bleeding a brake line of air, that is the moment to re-attach the line since it has the optimum pressure being filled with 100 percent fluid. If it is still spongy, there is still air in the line.

Be careful with the handling of drum brakes. Many include asbestos to help prevent heat damage when stopping. However, this material can be poisonous if the brake dust inside the hub and on the brake shoes is breathed.

3. Adjust the gap as necessary. If the wire didn't go through, the gap is too narrow. Hook the part of the feeler gauge that is used for bending electrodes under the side electrode and tug very gently to widen the gap. If the wire goes through too easily, without touching the electrodes, the gap is wide. Press the side electrode against a clean, mar-proof surface, very gently, until it's slightly bent down toward the center electrode. 00 A Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System 4. You want the gauge wire to go through fairly easily, just catching the electrodes as it passes. The wire should just "hang" in the gap but go through with a little guidance. If you keep getting the gap too narrow or too wide, don't feel bad. Everyone I know goes through the "too large-too small-too large" bit a couple of times for each plug, especially the perfectionists. After you're done gapping your spark plug, it's time to insert it in the engine. The next section has the details. Installing a spark ptuq To insert a spark plug into the engine, follow these steps: 1. Clean the spark plug hole in the cylinder block with a clean, lint-free cloth. Wipe away from the hole; don't shove any dirt into it. 2. Lightly coat the threads of the spark plug with anti-seize compound, being careful not to get any on the center or side electrodes.

BMW . You put one gallon of 110 octane in with three quarters of a tank of 91 octane and now the car feels sluggish and misfiring?

Seems to me that you are trying to much octane for your plugs therefore your jusst fowling out them which will make hesitation... Yugo GV.
*
3. Carefully begin threading the spark plug into the engine by hand, turning it clockwise. This is called "seating the plug." You have to do it by hand, or you run the risk of starting the plug crooked and ruining the threads on the plug or threads in the engine. If you have trouble holding onto the plug, you can buy a spark plug starter and fit it over the plug, or you can use an old spark plug wire boot or a piece of vacuum hose to make your own. 4. After you engage the plug by hand, turn it at least two full turns before utilizing the spark plug socket and ratchet. 5. Slip the spark plug socket over the spark plug, attach the ratchet handle, and continue turning the plug clockwise until you meet resistance.

Don't overtighten the plug (you can crack the porcelain); just get it in nice and tight with no wiggle. The plug should stick a little when you try to loosen it, but you should be able to loosen it again without straining yourself. Tighten and loosen the first plug once or twice to get the proper feel of the thing. . Chapter 12: Keeping Your Electrical System in Tune If you have a torque wrench, you can look in the manual for the proper setting and use it after you seat the plug by hand. Then try to loosen the plug by hand. This gives you the proper feel for how tight it should be. Most do-it-yourselfers tend to replace plugs without torque wrenches because torque wrenches are difficult to work with in the small space between the block and the other parts of the vehicle. 6. Inspect the entire length of the spark plug wire before attaching its boot to the plug. If the wire is cracked, brittle, or frayed or is saturated with oil, replace it. 7. Before you attach the boot to the spark plug, apply some silicone lubricant to the inside of the boot; then push the boot over the exposed terminal of the new plug and press it firmly into place.
